I teach two 5th grade Reading/Language Arts classes. Each class consists of 22 students that come from low-income homes. More than 50% of my students are English Language Learners. I want them to grow up and become life-long learners with college degrees. The students in my classroom are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and do not have access to reading materials, supplies, technology, or Internet. Our school is a Title 1 school, which basically means that we have a large low-income student population. The majority of the students at our school are English Language Learners that are developing and acquiring skills in English.
