I teach high school French at all levels, so my students range in age from 13-19 years old. My students are a great group, most of them eager to learn a new language. For some, it may be the first time learning a new language and for others it may be their second or third language they are studying. A general classroom donation would allow me to purchase the materials to be used in class such as the scholastic readers in French or additional materials for student centered learning, such as white boards and markers. In addition, there are May online activities that could be purchased with funding which would allow students to practice their language skills.

For students to envision themselves as successful, personally and academically, they require access, in the broadest sense of the word. For me, access is the ability or rather the capacity to locate and use resources that will assist in learning. By providing access to our students, we are giving them an opportunity to pursue doggedly their objectives.

Thomas Jefferson warned that "An educated citizenry is a vital requisite for our survival as a free people." This electoral cycle, there is an urgency to remember that. For our students to become functioning members of our democratic republic requires resources. A special challenge in teaching Government & Politics is the rapidity of change in society and our laws governing the democratic process. Texts are quickly overtaken by events, and need rapid replacement. Many digital resources are behind paywalls. I would like to provide my students with a range of views, including periodicals such as the Wall Street Journal and the National Review, and others that are not available without payment. Your help is important and greatly appreciated.
